It is a game about ethical choices vs our trust in technology.
Probably you had a lot of questions in your head when you were interrogating.
The most obvious was, should I trust them or not?
The second, are these softwares even working? What are they really tracking?
Maybe the third was, should I leave a cyborg free to go around or should I send them to the dismembering factory? At the end of the day they have a soul, memories, ethical standard…
Cyborg or not, these are central question in our society..
Questions that touch on the faith we give our technological tool everyday.
One example that we like a lot is google maps. How easy it’s to use google maps and how easy made our ability to ask for direction go away. Yeah but google maps is more fast and there is no social interaction, that is always scary. Correct, but what did we lost in the process? Two, maybe three interactions with other real humans in our everyday lives. Small interactions, yes, but that have the power of let us feel that we are not alone in the world (if you want to deepen the topic search for “strength of weak ties psychology” on Google).
We should not underestimate the power that a real human connection, even if it’s random, can have on our mental health.
What’s next, then?
AI and all the chatbot are another example... we are working to make technology as human as possible, at the same time we are giving technology more and more power over us. Right now is just small chores (Alexa, what time is it?) but what are we losing in the process? What will we lose in the next decade?
