This project is based in two strong references: the first is a scene from the movie Blade Runner, by Ridley Scott (1984), in the scene a policemen is interrogating a subject using a series of strange and futuristic technological devices, there is a focus on the eye of the subject, from which we derived the cover for the Interview.
The test that the policemen is administrating is called the Voight-Kampff test. You can watch the scene here (Trigger warning: violence).

The second reference is a series of experiment conducted at MIT in the seventies about Authority and Obedience, also known as the Milgram Experiments.

During the experiment, subject were asked to deliver electroshock to other people (that were in fact actors) following the orders of a doctor.

The deceptive nature of the experiment raises questions about the validity of their results, but what was recorded is that the subject were more obedient that resisting order that went against their own ethics.
